Silver Samuels
Restorative Justice Coordinator, K-8 / Lower School Senior Associate Teacher
Silver Samuels, born and raised in Berkeley, has advocated for children professionally for the last 17 years. He naturally turns work into play, specializing in the enrichment of a child centered experience. For his kindergarten through high school years, he attended Patten Academy, in Oakland's Fruitvale district. At the age of 19, unexpectedly one day, he accepted a job as a preschool assistant, which lead to a full time position as a head teacher. This became a joyful experience, and was the beginning of a profession as a dedicated children's advocate. Soon after, Silver became a family visitation supervisor, a job which offered him invaluable experience as a liaison between parents and their children until he graduated with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Cultural Studies from Sonoma State University. He went on to obtain early childhood education units from College of Marin enhancing his experience as a head preschool teacher. During the course of those years Silver also spent each summer as a camp counselor, camper advocate and staff supervisor, at Camp Winnarainbow, a circus and performing arts camp in northern California.
