Emma Ambler

Middle School Social Studies / 6th Grade Advisor

Emma Ambler has been working with children and young people for nearly a decade. Her love of books and learning, combined with two joyous and impactful summers spent living 24/7 in the woods with campers, eventually led her to become a classroom teacher. Emma has a bachelor's degree in English/creative writing from Scripps College in Claremont, CA. She received her master's of teaching from the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute in 2023. She has worked as a teacher in both independent and public schools in San Francisco, Oakland, and Richmond. Emma has taught students from kindergarten up to eighth grade, and also had the pleasure of leading outdoor education experiences for teens and young adults, in the redwoods of Mendocino and the deciduous trees of Vermont and New Hampshire. This fall, she will begin as the social studies teacher at Berkwood Hedge Middle, returning to an old favorite, which is the incredible world of history!
