Loxie Hoshino - Educational Therapist and Assistant Teacher in Grades 2, 4 and 5
Loxie received her undergraduate degree from Mills College. She worked at computer software companies for many years before enrolling at Holy Names University to earn her Masters in Education with an emphasis in Educational Therapy. She has been working at Berkwood Hedge for 10 years, beginning as a classroom assistant and since 2005, working as a Learning Specialist.
Maria Carrillo - Educational Therapist
Maria has over 20 years experience as both a teacher and an Educational Therapist. Over the past five years she has helped develop the learning specialist program at Berkwood Hedge, and has consulted as an Educational Therapist in various private and public schools in the East Bay. Prior, as a teacher focusing on elementary education and Spanish, she helped found East Bay Montessori school in El Sobrante, and held teaching positions at East Bay Montessori, Bright Star Montessori and Lubavitch House Schools in London. She holds an undergraduate degree and teaching credential from the University of West London, England, and a Masters degree in Education from Holy Names University. Maria Carrillo was born in Spain to Spanish parents and emigrated to England at the age of six, where she was brought up bilingually, nurturing her passion and interest in bilingual education.
